2010 AGM of Sligo Traditional Singers Circle

was held in the

Knocknarea Suite, Southern Hotel Sligo, on Friday 22nd January 2010 at 8:30pm

We had a good turnout and full participation from all members at our AGM.

Elected were :

Chairman-----Frank Finn
Secretary --- Deirdre Cox
Treasurer-----Assumpta Kelly

Committee-- Frank Carter----Seosaimh O'Luana---Marie Murray----Joe Corscadden.

A lively and detailed discussion took place regarding many aspects of our organisation, including our regular singing sessions and our annual traditional singing weekend

After our very successful and enjoyable singing weekend  at the beginning of October 2009, one of our special guests at the weekend Frances Kennedy and her husband headed off for Australia.

In a completely separate development, our own - the one and only Joe Corscadden and his wife Veronica also headed off to "down under" also.

Then one day at Bondi Junction  Australia, guess what?

 They met.

Small world indeed!!!!!

Ann Hynes RIP

Breda McDermott, Ann Hynes and Cerys Matthews at a recent singing session in Durkins Ballinacarrow

Ann Hynes died tragically in a car accident on the 23rd of June 2009. Although Ann did not sing at our sessions, she was a great supporter and loved listening to the songs.

As well as attending our singing sessions, Ann attended many singing workshops in Sligo and throughout the country.
A gentle kind and caring person, she will be sorely missed by all her singing friends. We offer our deepest sympathies to her husband Christy, daughters Carmel, Gráinne, Áine and Fiona. Her son Christopher and all her extended family.
